Mon, July 2, 2007 - 4:50 PMThe flow is cool to watch, thanks for the link! Pet peeve of many instructors evident, however -- the attacker is not actually striking at Tess, just around her... It's something all of us fall into when doing a drill.
I haven't worked with fan myself -- in addition to the deflections evident here, I expect the distraction effect (snapping it open/shut, and movements to capture the attacker's eye) is a major element? That diversion of focus would be subtle to catch on camera though. -

I believe on a traditional one, the outer pieces are steel, while the ribs are standard bamboo.
I have been wondering what it would be like to use steel corset boning for ribs instead of bamboo <evil grin> -

I didn't realize steel ribs were also traditional - steel outer frame and bamboo ribs being the ones I've seen. COOL!
