MARCH 10, 2007 -

AFTER NINE YEARS OF TRAINING, JESSI TARAN HAS BEEN AWARDED THE RANK OF BLACK BELT IN THE ART OF BRAZILIAN JIIU JITSU. THE BELT WAS AWARDED BY SERGIO SILVA OF THE OPEN DOOR BJJ ACADEMY IN OAKLAND, CA. MS. TARAN WAS AWARDED HER BROWN BELT IN 2005 BY BJJ LEGEND, MAESTRO RICARDO DE LA RIVA, AND IS CURRENTLY RANKED THE NUMBER 1 FEMALE HEAVYWEIGHT BJJ FIGHTER IN THE WORLD BY WWW.GRAPPLERS.COM . SHE TEACHES AT THE WORLD JIU JITSU ACADEMY IN KENTFIELD, CA, AND ALSO AT THE OPEN DOOR BJJ ACADEMY IN OAKLAND.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I still can't believe it. I have NEVER worked harder for anything in my entire life. Getting a black belt in BJJ isn't quite the same as getting a black belt in any other martial art. There are fewer than 20 female BJJ black belts in the entire WORLD. I never thought that I'd actually manage to be one of them. Wow....

Now if I can just find another job and a new place to live, I'll be FINE! ;-)

Congratulations and thank you so much for telling us. What an accomplishment! It is very inspiring to know and I can appreciate how hard you must have worked for it.
I'm certain you will see the results in so many aspects of your life.
